Two cottages by the sea, one overview

Rik and Edith have been renting out two holiday homes in Callantsoog since 2014: Strandhuis Dune, a detached house with three bedrooms, and Penthouse Dune in the De Wijde Blick apartment complex. Both are about a ten-minute walk from the beach. They manage the rental themselves, from arrival to goodbye.

The situation

Two properties each with their own character, guests from the Netherlands, Germany and England, and a stream of enquiries arriving by email and phone. Anyone who wanted to know about availability had to wait for a reply. And with two calendars running at once, the chance of a double booking is real, certainly in summer and around the holidays.

The approach

The website was built by Fijn-Online, the booking software comes from Bookedin. Each house has its own calendar live on the site, so visitors see availability straight away on the page of the house they are looking at. The booking page collects the request with the preferred dates, and the site is available in three languages.

• A separate calendar per property, so Strandhuis and Penthouse can be booked separately
• Availability visible on their own site, not only on a platform
• Prices per period, with high and low season
• Requests come in structured instead of loose in the mailbox

The result

Availability sits in one place, and that place is their own website. Guests see right away whether their week is free and no longer have to ask. The family keeps the personal contact that belongs to their rental, but no longer has to maintain the overview by hand.
