Switching between export file types (.ics / .ical) in Bookedin
Bookedin uses standard iCalendar files to synchronize bookings with external platforms such as Airbnb, Booking.com, and Micazu. You can easily switch between .ics and .ical file types, depending on the requirements of the platform you want to sync with.
Log in to your account
Go to https://app.bookedin.nl/login/ and log in with your credentials. After logging in, you will see the dashboard.
Check if you have a calendar
- checkAlready created a calendar? → Proceed to step 3.
- checkNo calendar yet? → Follow the guide "Make your first calendar" first.
Navigate to Plugins > Sync and Import
In the menu, click on Plugins and go to Sync and Import. On this page, you will see two tables:
- checkImports: for pulling in external bookings.
- checkExport Bookings: for exporting your own bookings.
Switch the file type
In the bottom table "Export Bookings", you will find a toggle switch for each calendar that allows you to adjust the export file type:
- check.ics
- check.ical

Select the correct file type
Click the toggle switch to swap between the file types.
- checkAirbnb, for example, typically requires an .ics file.
- checkOther platforms may sometimes require .ical.
Copy the export link
Once you have set the correct file type, copy the link provided next to the calendar. You can then paste this link into the external platform where you wish to establish the connection.
All set! You have successfully adjusted the export file type. Your bookings will now be synchronized with your external platform using the correct format.
